Highlander International Recycling are able to purchase and re-process almost any type of clean, sorted recovered paper, so long as it comes in 24 ton lots and is baled to an acceptable standard. Below is illustration and description of the common grades we trade regularly, however please note other grades can be bought and sold on specification and inspection.
The main grades of paper we purchase and supply to the market-place;
Sorted white wood-free writing papers, originating from office records, free from cash books, carbon paper and non-water soluble adhesives. Should contain no coloured woodfree material and no mechanical fibres.Click here for full grade specification & load requirements
Light Coloured Letter (LCL)
Consists of 75% White Heavy letter and 25% Coloured Heavy letter per bale, must be free from all coated papers. Bales must be free of plastic, poly coated or laminates & any other contraries such as wet strength or 'stickies' such as latex.N.C.R content limited to the normal average found in Coloured Letter/White Letter. Coloured Heavy Letter (CHL)
Made up of Office paper such as letters, photocopy papers, invoices etc which have been lightly printed. May contain lightly printed boards such as business reply cards. Bank cheques may be included but must be free from wet strength cheques .Paper must be woodfree and uncoated and free from stickies.Click here for full grade specification & load requirements
Sorted Office Waste (SOW)
General office paper made up of coloured and white letters and business forms which may be shredded. May contain metal pins and fasteners and less than 20% of manila envelopes and manila file covers.Carbon paper should not be included.The mechanical content per bale should not exceed 10%. Multi-Grade
Consists various papers per bale, between 15 – 20% White Heavy Letter, 30% WF Col. Shavs, 25% Coloured Heavy Letter and maximum of 15% Coloured Best Pams and 5% Coloured ConStat.May contain max. 10% mechanical content.Material must be free from latex binders, self adhesive labels, wet strength poly-laminates & other contraries.Overall appearance should be bright & light. This is the standard export specification for baled news and pams, containing a mixture of newspapers and magazines, containing a minimum of 70% of newspapers, with or without glue. Loose News and Pams
This is the standard specification for loose news and pams, containing a mixture of newspapers and magazines, containing a minimum of 70% of newspapers, with or without glue. Soft Mixed Paper
Mixed papers from domestic sources, consisting of predominantly news and pams, with a maximum of 30% of other paper and boards permitted such as cardboard. Maximum out-throw levels permitted at 5%.Click here for full grade specification & load requirements
This is the standard OCC bought and sold for export contains used paper and corrugated board packaging, containing a minimum of 90% of corrugated board, the rest being solid board and wrapping papers.Click here for full grade specification & load requirements
